As Promised

Okay, so I just got done working, and I'm extremely tired. However, I felt that I had an obligation to update my blog again, considering that if I don't now, I'll probably stop doing it altogether. I must start with good habits when it comes to updating if I'm going to continue to do so.

So, Facebook and Twitter... two similar yet very different services that are main attractions on this world wide web that we so fervently adore. I use both, and have gone through phases where I use more of one than the other. Over the summer, I started basically living on fb. I had no job, wasn't in class, and had no car. I had nothing to do all day. So, Facebook kept me busy. I got into some of the games, like (yes, I know I'm terrible) Farmville and Mafia Wars. I still see it as a great way to kill time if you don't really want to accomplish anything that matters.

After using Facebook so much, and obviously much more than everybody else, I began to tire of it. Then, I went to Twitter. I had created an account about a year prior, but never really used it, figuring that it was pointless, as I knew nobody on there. But a few people joined, and I was all over the trending topics, and soon I had about 100 followers, so it felt more viable as a means of communication. Plus, I can say stuff on there that I can't on Facebook, due to too many family members, making me feel censored.

I believe that Twitter hasn't been accepted by most Facebook users because there are no "friends". You don't befriend anybody at all. You can follow somebody, but they don't have to follow you, leaving you feeling unappreciated in a sense. If you don't have followers, then who are you posting to? I understand this logic, and that's why I didn't use it at first. I have about 800+ friends on Facebook, so I have an audience in that arena.

As I started using Twitter, I began to just use it for fun. I loved playing around with some of the trending topics. Example: #moviesturnedxxx (I had some good ones... like The Fantastic Foursome, or Forest Hump) So, this kept me entertained.

As for now, I use both somewhat frequently. My phone posts any statuses I write to both my Facebook and my Twitter account, so that's pretty cool. I'm just wondering if Twitter is going to take off in the same way Facebook did. Some may say that it already has, but I hardly know anybody without Facebook, and don't know many people at all on Twitter.

So I guess we will just wait and see...
